Old Timer Signs

The best pine boards in the world are made right here in Maine and that is what we use to make our signs. We use only kiln dried pine and do not make signs that have knots in them. Sure, it costs more, but 6 months down the road we don’t have to re-do a sign because the knot “bled” through the front of the sign, and our customers don’t have to explain what happened or deal with an irate customer.

We use only American Made materials; our pine, paint, and incidentals.

We make what is called “crackle” signs in an off-white color. Crackle refers to a barn beaten paint that has dried, weathered, and cracked over the years. Our sign frames are made by us, painted a variety of colors, and are made for interior use only. The sign surface has two coats of water-based varnish protecting it.

Our art work consists of moose, deer, skiers, snowboarders, loons, golfers, and just about anything. We work with our customers to find a combination of signs which will sell in their area. Importantly, we suggest signs using local names such as a lake with a loon, a mountain with a skier, or a secluded pond with a bull moose. Town and place names sell the best. For example; Rangeley with deer, moose or loons, Bridgton with Moose Pond with a moose.
